Communist Party Will Work with Democrats & RINOs to Give GOP a ‘Licking’ in 2014 – Tea Party Lesson - Conservative Read

Sam Webb, Chair of the Communist Party USA wants to give the GOP a ?licking? in 2014 and its going to work even more closely with the Democrats to do it.

In his latest message to the Party faithful: ?Ingredients for a movement that can transform our country,? Webb outlined Communist Party objectives for the near future.

Speaking of the broad ?progressive? alliance with the Communist Party at its center Webb said:

Contrary to what some on the left think, the starting point of transformative politics isn?t political desires and wish list, but a sober and concrete assessment of the balance of class and social forces on the ground, not least of which is the political consciousness of the majority of working-class people and what they are ready to fight for.

How do we accelerate this transition from a movement with transformative potential to a movement with transformative power and capacity?

?a movement with transformative hopes must be up to its ears in the struggle for jobs, a higher minimum wage, immigration reform, gun control, infrastructure renewal, abortion rights, protecting the climate, preserving earned-benefit programs, marriage equality, voting rights, saving public education, reversing the sequester, winning a federal budget favoring people?s needs, cutting the military budget, and many more issues at the federal, state and local level.

It should also be an energetic part of the struggle to give the Republican Party a licking in next year?s congressional elections. Defeating right-wing extremist candidates is the key link in moving the whole chain of struggle forward. It will take an expansive coalition of voters, including independents, centrists and even some moderate Republicans.

To some on the far left, even the Democrats seem too moderate, but the Communist Party understands that victory is impossible without using the Dems (at least temporarily) to push their agenda.

?the Democratic Party has been a necessary, albeit inconsistent, component (at this stage of struggle) of the broad ?small d? democratic coalition blocking the imposition of some of the worst features of the extreme right?s agenda, not to mention its more ambitious effort to gain unchallenged dominance over the federal government, thereby enabling the right to impose an authoritarian and austere form of capitalism on the American people.

Moreover, since 2008 the Obama administration has advanced many positive reform initiatives which the movement would be foolish not to welcome and support ? the latest of which is the administration?s efforts to curb carbon emissions.

Finally, the mass base of the Democratic Party includes major sections of the people?s movement and a substantial layer of progressive elected representatives who, while not completely happy with the centrist positions of its top leaders, are still not ready to bid goodbye and join a new political/electoral party.

In these circumstances, it would be foolhardy to refuse in advance to cooperate with the Democratic Party as a whole or sections of it under any conditions. That would be a prescription for marginalization.

This lesson should not be lost on the Tea Party, which should seek to be to the GOP what the Communists are to the Democrats.

The Communists understand that they should not abandon the Democrats to pursue a more pure Marxist-Leninist agenda. Using the Democrats may be frustrating, but it magnifies communist influence exponentially. One day it may be opportune to found a new broad based leftist party ? but not now.

Likewise the Tea Party should not be abandoning the GOP right now, but should be aggressively and overtly taking it over. The Communist Party, a few thousand strong at most, can effectively dictate terms to the Democrats in many areas of the country. Nationally, Democrat policy is actually now mostly Communist Party policy.

Learn from the enemy my patriotic friends. Don?t marginalize yourself, or your opponents will surely win.

Use the GOP to advance YOUR agenda. Success is not guaranteed if you do, but failure is guaranteed if you do not.

Gay marriage opponents ask court to intervene

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) ? Less than 24 hours after California started issuing marriage licenses to same sex couples, lawyers for the sponsors of the state's gay marriage ban filed an emergency motion Saturday asking the U.S. Supreme Court to stop the weddings being performed in San Francisco.

Attorneys with the Arizona-based Alliance Defending Freedom claim in the petition that the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals acted prematurely and unfairly on Friday when it allowed gay marriage to resume by lifting a hold that had been placed on same sex unions.

"The Ninth Circuit's June 28, 2013 Order purporting to dissolve the stay...is the latest in a long line of judicial irregularities that have unfairly thwarted Petitioners' defense of California's marriage amendment," the paperwork states. "Failing to correct the appellate court's actions threatens to undermine the public's confidence in its legal system."

The motion was filed as dozens of couples in jeans, shorts, white dresses and the occasional military uniform filled San Francisco City Hall on Saturday to obtain marriage licenses. On Friday, 81 same sex couples received marriage licenses.

Although a few clerk's offices around the state stayed open late on Friday, San Francisco, which is holding its annual gay pride celebration this weekend, was the only jurisdiction to hold weekend hours so that same sex couples could take advantage of their newly restored right, Clerk Karen Hong said.

A sign posted on the door of the office where a long line of couples waited to fill out applications listed the price for a license, a ceremony or both above the words "Equality=Priceless."

"We really wanted to make this happen," Hong said, adding that her whole staff and a group of volunteers came into work without having to be asked. "It's spontaneous, which is great in its own way."

The timing couldn't have been better for California National Guard Capt. Michael Potoczniak, 38, and his partner of 10 years, Todd Saunders, 47, of El Cerrito.

Potoczniak, who joined the Guard after the military's ban on openly gay service was repealed almost two years ago, was scheduled to fly out Sunday night for a month of basic training in Texas.

"I woke up this morning, shook him awake and said, 'Let's go,'" said Potoczniak, who chose to get married in his Army uniform. "It's something that people need to see because everyone is so used to uniforms at military weddings."

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday that Proposition 8's backers lacked standing to defend the 2008 law because California's governor and attorney general have declined to defend the ban.

Then on Friday, the 9th Circuit appeared to have removed the last obstacle to making same sex matrimony legal again in California when it removed its hold on a lower court's 2010 order directing state officials to stop enforcing the ban.

Within hours, same sex couples were seeking marriage licenses. The two couples who sued to overturn Proposition 8 were wed in San Francisco and Los Angeles Friday.

Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Austin Nimocks said on Saturday that the Supreme Court's consideration of the case isn't done because his clients still have 22 days to ask the justices to reconsider the 5-4 decision announced Wednesday.

Under Supreme Court rules, the losing side in a legal dispute has 25 days to request a rehearing. While such requests are almost never granted, the high court said that it wouldn't finalize its judgment in the case at least until after that waiting period elapsed.

The San Francisco-based appeals court had said when it imposed the stay that it would remain in place until the Supreme Court issued its final disposition, according to Nimocks.

"Everyone on all sides of the marriage debate should agree that the legal process must be followed," he said. "On Friday, the 9th Circuit acted contrary to its own order without explanation."

Many legal experts who had anticipated such a last-ditch effort by gay marriage opponents said it was unlikely to succeed because the 9th Circuit has independent authority over its own orders ? in this case, its 2010 stay.

While the ban's backers can still ask the Supreme Court for a rehearing, the 25-day waiting period is not binding on lower federal courts, Vikram Amar, a constitutional law professor with the University of California, Davis law school, said.

"As a matter of practice, most lower federal courts wait to act," Amar said. "But there is nothing that limits them from acting sooner. It was within the 9th Circuit's power to do what it did."

Also waiting to wed Saturday were Scott Kehoe, 34, and his fiance, Aurelien Bricker, 24. After finding out on Facebook that the city was issuing same sex marriage licenses Friday, the San Francisco couple rushed out to Tiffany's to buy wedding rings.

"We were afraid of further legal challenges in the state," Kehoe said.

The city, home to both a federal trial court that struck down Proposition 8 as unconstitutional and the 9th Circuit, has been the epicenter of the state's gay marriage movement since then-Mayor Gavin Newsom ordered his administration in February 2004 to issue licenses to gay couples in defiance of state law.

A little more than four years later, the California Supreme Court, which is also based in San Francisco, struck down the state's one-man, one-woman marriage laws.

City Hall was the scene of many more marriages in the 4 1/2 months before a coalition of religious conservative groups successfully campaigned for the November 2008 passage of Proposition 8, which amended the state constitution to outlaw same sex marriages.

Standing amid the beaming couples on Saturday, John Lewis and Stuart Gaffney of the advocacy group Marriage Equality USA looked like proud fathers. The men have been together 26 years, got married in February 2004, had their union invalidated six months later and then became one of the 18,000 couples estimated to have tied the knot in California before Proposition 8 was enacted.

"I don't think getting a license means as much to anyone who hasn't worked so long for it and fought so hard for it," Gaffney said. "It's been a very long engagement."

With all the emphasis on electric propulsion these days, it might seem hard to believe that it?s been 39 years since General Electric ? yes, GE ? set the FIA World Electric Land Speed Record. But that achievement has finally been bested by a sleek, Le Mans Prototype dubbed ?Lola.?

On an RAF airbase in Yorkshire, England, an 850-horsepower battery-electric built by Drayson Racing hit a top speed of 204.185 miles per hour during a pair of runs down a 3-kilometer (nearly 2-mile) track. That was a full 29 mph faster than the 175 mph record set way back in 1974 by the Battery Box General Electric.

?I?m delighted we?ve beaten the record tonight and can show the world EVs can be fast and reliable,? said Lord Paul Drayson, whose firm built the 2,200 battery, and who personally piloted it during the record run. ?It is not the outright speed of 204.185 mph that is most impressive about this record, but the engineering challenge of accelerating a 1000 kilogram electric vehicle on a short runway over a measured mile.?

Officially known as the Drayson B12 69/EV the enclosed racer used ultra-light carbon fiber for its chassis and body to compensate for the heft of a 30 kilowatt-hour battery pack. It also relied on custom-designed Michelin LM P1 tires.

Though most folks likely associate electric propulsion with ? but slow ? vehicles like the Nissan Leaf or Chevrolet Volt, the reality is that battery power can also deliver some impressive performance as an electric motor yields maximum torque the moment it starts spinning.

Drayson?s Lola can launch from 0 to 60 in less than 4 seconds, for example, and keep gaining speed until it?s pushed well past 200 mph. In fact, Lord Drayson is apparently looking to soon beat his own record, tweeting to fans that on an additional run the car was ?very lively at 216 mph.?

While he may be celebrating victory, the claimed record could come under dispute. The Buckeye Bullet, an EV built by students at Ohio State University, actually achieved a 307.7 mph average during two runs at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah in August 2010 ? and was seen as capable of reaching 400 mph. But that effort was not officially sanctioned by the FIA, leaving GE?s Battery Box the certified record-holder for another three years.

To proponents, what matters most is the increasing focus in electric racing and battery propulsion, in general.

There?s clearly a lot more interest, for example, has nudged its ZEOD RC battery race car up to 186 mph, and Top EV Racing claims to have launched its battery dragster from 0 to 100 in a mind-boggling 0.8 seconds.

What could put battery racing square in the public eye is the new Formula E series set to launch in 2015. Not surprisingly, Lord Drayson is looking to participate when that program gets underway.

Obama heads to South Africa with 'personal hero' Mandela on his mind

Barack Obama described Nelson Mandela as a ?personal hero? ahead of his scheduled arrival in South Africa on Friday but it was unclear whether the president would visit the ailing anti-apartheid icon in hospital.

U.S. officials said Thursday that it would be up to Mandela?s family whether Obama would be able to see him.

"We are going to completely defer to the wishes of the Mandela family and work with the South African government as relates to our visit," Ben Rhodes, deputy national security adviser, told reporters in Senegal. "Whatever the Mandela family deems appropriate, that's what we're focused on doing in terms of our interaction with them."

Outside the hospital in Pretoria, where former South African president Nelson Mandela has been hospitalized with a lung infection, a vigil continues with people offering prayers, songs and good wishes. NBC's Brian Williams reports.

When asked by NBC News Special Correspondent Charlayne Hunter-Gault?whether the family would welcome a visit by Obama, Mandela's daughter Zindzi?said she wasn't aware of any formal request. However, she added that decision would be left with doctors treating the Nobel Peace Prize laureate.

On Tuesday, Zindzi Mandela said that her father ?opened his eyes and gave me a smile? when she told him Obama was coming.

U.S. officials told Reuters that the president?s trip would serve largely as a tribute to Mandela, known affectionately as "Madiba," whether the two men were able to meet or not.

"I've had the privilege of meeting Madiba and speaking to him. And he's a personal hero, but I don't think I'm unique in that regard," Obama said on Thursday. "If and when he passes from this place, one thing I think we'll all know is that his legacy is one that will linger on throughout the ages."

In the latest statement on Mandela?s condition, South African President Jacob Zuma said the 94-year-old was ?much better? on Thursday than he had been the previous night. "The medical team continues to do a sterling job," he added.

In her exclusive interview with NBC News on Thursday, Zindzi Mandela said her father was ?very comfortable.?

?His whole legacy is about fighting,? she said. ?I can't stress enough what a fighter he is. He?s a strong man. He's about resilience.?

A statement issued by Zuma?s office said he and Obama would hold ?crucial bilateral talks that will take forward relations between the two countries? on Saturday.

?South Africa values its warm and mutually beneficial relationship with the United States immensely. This is a significant visit which will take political, economic and people to people relations between the two countries to a higher level, while also enhancing cooperation between U.S. and the African continent at large,? it said.

The talks are expected to cover trade, education, health, development, and security. The statement said there were 600 American companies employing 150,000 people in South Africa.

It noted Obama?s visit was being made as South Africa prepares to celebrate ?20 years of freedom? ? 1994 saw the first elections in the country in which all its citizens were eligible to vote. Mandela voted for the first time in his life in that year and was elected the country?s first black president, serving until 1999.

?South Africa greatly appreciates the solidarity provided by the Anti-Apartheid Movement in the United States during the struggle for liberation,? the statement said.

New York City is a metropolis that has been photographed, documented, and written about a billion times over, and it will probably always continue to be this way. This city has summoned millions of people all over the world; it has literally entered the homes, minds, spirits, ideals and fantasies of people who have goals they want to make a reality. My experience in this 'concrete jungle' is that the very atmosphere of New York City is consisted of the dreams that have come to live and die here over the centuries. With so many dreams in one place, all consistently evolving and dissolving, one can wonder what is the common link? When people look back on this imploding city, what title will they give us? Will we be documented as a purely economic driven society, lead by trends and social status, or is it possible to give a voice to the true powerhouse of this city, the artist?

The voice of the artist is creativity itself and creativity is always a dream until its physical manifestation. Creativity is what New York City has continually thrived on. When people come here they want to create or recreate themselves and their lives. The ability to create and recreate our self is a gift all of us have, but few choose to fully explore. During my time living, working, and loving in New York City, I have met so many incredible artists. These people range from homeless rebel teenagers to noteworthy actors, musicians and painters, designers and writers, models and photographers...the list literally goes on; and all of them have been beyond gifted. But, I have yet to find acknowledgement of their effect on our daily lives as a city. Where are their stories of encouragement and endurance for the other 8 million of us out here? In times where many people in the western hemisphere are becoming more conscious of the effect human beings have on planet earth, people are becoming more conscious of themselves. This consciousness of self has always been documented by the art of the times.

Every person who has gone against the odds to paint when they were destined to be a doctor, or every singer who belts in the most underground subway instead of working a 9-5, their voices should be heard. We are all on our own journey, and it has been proven throughout time, finding relation to others story of victory and sorrow is always healing and empowering. Am I biased? As a runaway writer and actor, covert dancer and sketcher, yes, I am biased. The voices of those who have come here not pursuing wealth or acknowledgment, but operating purely off of the creative force that must be expressed within them, has been some of my cords of strength when life here has been beyond extreme.

As humans on a mission to make it to the next day we all have hard times. We all share a dream to create a life for ourselves that is ideal. The voice of the artist, the life of the artist is not ideal, it is not a glamorized Hollywood tale of rags to riches. It is a determination to be self sufficient based on one's own talents and gifts. These talents and gifts can be a burden when one is surrounded by images of the socially acceptable way to live. The voice of the artist is more like a spirit, and its strength is in loving and believing in one's self.

The spirit of the artist brings the realization that nothing tangibly obtainable can determine the worth of a human being. We can only determine the quality of our lives by the effect our dreams and creativity have on others. The dreams keep bringing people here, the hope that they can create something from these dreams, in a place where so many have tried. The tourist attractions, the wealth this city contains, the possibility of stardom are all someone's dream. The voice of the artist is the individuals dream. This person understands themselves to be part of an evolving system of life, where life keeps recreating itself. This individual realizes they themselves are a beautiful and important part of that evolution.

So dream on New York, and shout the praises of the famed and wealthy, we the artists will keep writing for you, singing for you, painting for you, playing for you, all in hopes that you too will find the power to express your true self during your life's evolution.

There is loyalty, and there is inertia.

Either way, the persistence of a large bloc of Packers fans has been rewarded, as 5,000 names are being taken off the team?s season-ticket waiting list, the most in one offseason.

The Packers gave a glimpse of the expansion of Lambeau Field yesterday, which includes 7,000 new seats. The bulk of those are going to people who have been waiting to get in for decades.

?The folks coming off the list have been on for 30 years, so there?s some patience on their part. That?s the great thing with the support the Packers have,? Packers director of public affairs Aaron Popkey said, via WBAY.

Team officials said the project, which includes suites, escalators, new concession stands and standing room areas is 98 percent finished, and should be complete before the team?s shareholders meeting in late July.

While they took pride it making it look like it blended into one of the league?s most traditional buildings, they think it?s going to be even louder than before.

?I think it?ll be pretty dramatic in that top area,? said Stuart Zadra,vice president of Hammes Company, the contractor on the project. ?It?s got metal behind it that?s just going to reflect, and I?m sure people are going to be pounding on that metal cheering on Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.?

And with 7,000 new voices, the effect should be dramatic.

Apple Online Store opens in Russia, establishes direct sales in key ...

Today, Apple has finally launched a version of its official online store for customers in Russia. The online store is similar in style to Apple?s online stores in other countries. Customers in Russia are now able to order iPhones, iPads, iPods, Macs, accessories, and more directly from Apple to their homes. Apple is celebrating the launch by taking up Apple Russia?s homepage to announce the new store (image above)?

This online store is Apple?s first official sales presence in the country. The tech giant is yet to open up an official physical retail store in Russia, but several rumors have pointed to Apple being interested in Russian land. Apple?s ties to Russia have begun firming up over the past couple of years. Late last year, Apple expanded its iTunes Store to Russia, and made this announcement at a major media event in Moscow.?In 2010,?Russian Prime Minister Medvedev visited Steve Jobs at Apple?s Cupertino headquarters.

As forecasted?by Apple job listings from earlier this year, the Apple Online Store for Russia is fully equipped with a live chat support team and interactive customer communications. The online store includes a panel for live chat in addition to features for chat operators to demonstrate and explain products to potential product buyers.

Russia has been regarded by many as a key emerging market in the technology industry. With Apple making strides to establish itself in emerging markets (such as China), opening direct sales in Russia is a critical move in Tim Cook?s quest to assert Apple as a globally dominant company. Apple is rumored to, later this year, ship a cheaper iPhone, which could assist in this goal.
